Snow in Florida? What A Wild Winter…

Snow and ice aren’t things you’d expect to see as far south as central Florida, but for the past two weeks, there has been plenty. While there was no ground cover here on the coast, we have experienced everything from slush to flurries to thick, solid ice after a hard rain last Saturday followed by a frigid 20-something degree overnight drop. Several times over the past couple weeks, my daughter and I were able to remove enough frost, snow and ice from the top of the car to make honest-to-god Florida snowballs. Crazy! I ended up Tweeting some pics, because people didn’t believe me otherwise.

We’re in a warming trend now though, the morning ice on my car was a thick layer of slush this morning, but still enough to make a very large snowball which, since my neighbor crush was not outside, I chucked at my own front door, just to watch it go splat 🙂

This winter has definitely brought out the kid in me, and it’s something I will remember for a very long time.
